I Will Go and Do...

Obedience is the first word that enters my mind when I think of Nephi.
"I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them". 1 Nephi 3:7.
Nephi did some things that we might consider "impossible". He did it because he could "see!". Nephi came to know the Lord, perhaps, because of his brothers Laman and Lemuel's murmuring to do those things their father asked of them.

Nephi had "great desires to know of the mysteries of God" 1 Nephi 2:16.

He sought the Lord in prayer. He wanted to know the things his father knew. His personal experiences with the Lord continue as he was led by the Spirit in acquiring the plates of brass, assisted in convincing Ishmael to bring his family into the wilderness, and perhaps most profoundly, was literally guided by an angel to understand Lehi's vision of the tree of life--and the additional divine instruction that would follow. A divine hand guided him in dealing with his broken bow, building and captaining a ship, and helping his father settle a new land.

I want to be obedient like Nephi!
